The following individuals represent the primary instructors at HMAC. It should be noted that the school features other black belt talent in addition to these qualified sensei(s).

Douglas Hoover

Douglas Hoover began his martial arts training in 1974 in the art of Wado Ryu karate with the Hollidaysburg, PA Shuto Society under the direction of C. M. Bookwalter. This training resulted in promotions to 1st degree Black Belt in 1980. In 1984, he was promoted to 2nd degree and received his instructor’s certificate.

In 1983, Mr. Hoover began training in Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo after attending a training seminar taught by Grand Master Seikichi Odo and sponsored by C. Bruce Heilman, Hanshi.   He received his Renshi teaching license in the style in 1994, his Kyoshi level teaching license in 2007, and has been a member of the International Karate Kobudo Federation since its inception. He currently is a member of the IKKF Renshi Kai as well as a member of the Federation’s Executive Council.  In addition to Heilman, Hanshi, Mr. Hoover’s training and growth in the martial arts has been heavily influenced by “Old Student” Bill Hayes and Patrick McCarthy, Hanshi.

Zane Staily

Zane Staily began his martial arts training in 1982 in the Japanese art of Wado Ryu karate. He began his transition to the art of Okinawa Kenpo in 1988 and received his Shodan from the Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo Federation in 1990. He currently holds the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt.   In addition to teaching beginner and intermediate classes at HMAC, Mr. Staily has also been training in Mixed Martial Arts and has been teaching ground fighting classes at the dojo.

Shane Wismeyer

Shane Wismeyer began his martial arts training in 1985 in the art of American Kenpo under the instruction of John McFadden, Sensei while living in Montana.   He became a member of HMAC in 2002 after his family relocated to the Central Pennsylvania area and he has been training at HMAC ever since. He received his Black Belt in Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo in 2006. He currently holds the rank of 4th degree Black Belt and is a certified IKKF Instructor of Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo.  He assists in instructing beginner and intermediate classes at the Center.

Brock Hoover

Brock Hoover began his training at Hoover Martial Arts in 1996 at the age of 7 years old. He progressed through the ranks and received his Black Belt in Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo in 2006. He currently holds the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt and is a certified IKKF instructor of Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo.  He has assisted in teaching both children and adult classes at the Center.
